Connection

Advocates

We invite you into the opportunity of building a relationship with the client through regular connection, communication and meetings.

You can partner with us in this key position, to build trust and be the conduit for the client, presenting the services New Each Morning offers, as well as connecting her to the people and resources needed outside of our services. In this position, you would provide the opportunity to be encouragement, while offering assistance and support as the client pursues developing and practicing a prosperous life.

Here are some of the ways our volunteer Connection Advocates provide support for our clients.

Connection and a support system is the way we help bridge the gap for our clients that are graduating from their recovery/treatment program and looking to rebuild their lives.

  • Schedule and meet with a client in person once a week for at least a 1 hour meeting.

    • This is a time of one to one connection, building and establishing trust while also working on next step strategies.

  • This time is to fill out and discuss the Time Dance Planner appointments/goals for the week to come, celebrate success and reflect on “do overs” from the previous week if need be.

  • Evaluate the immediate needs for the week and together create a strategy directing her in how to best reach her goals and needs for the day, week and month.

    • Checking in daily with a quick text keeps the connection/communication open. It is a daily reminder that she is loved and remembered. (We all need that.)

    • Each Volunteer will be provided with a Google Voice number as not to be using your personal cell number. Google Voice is a free app that allows you to use your phone, but messages are rerouted through a different number protecting your privacy.

    • Discuss/arrange her Haircut and Makeup appointments. This will look different in each case depending on timing and transportation needs. These appointments offer a great opportunity to teach the importance of committing to and keeping our commitments. Emphasizing that communication be a priority should there need to be changes with set appointments.

    • Schedule an appointment with the client to visit about her current clothing needs for an upcoming job interview or a current job. A visit to her home is sometimes necessary to assess what she currently has and what she is in need of.

    • After this you will be taking her shopping for this list of items. We always like to encourage a good pair of shoes as a basic foundational need as well.
